Drawing on Tom Swiss's decades of experience in the Asian martial and healing arts, this class combines elements of kiko/qi gong, shiatsu, self-massage, do-in, yoga, and Zen style meditation. Stretching, gentle movement, self-acupressure and massage, and meditation and visualization techniques are used to tone the muscles, improve flexibility, calm the mind and spirit, promote wellness, and cultivate that principle known variously as "qi", "ki", "prana", or "vital energy".
This is a "zero knowledge", adaptable class. It is suitable for those with no prior background or experience, and for all fitness levels. You are welcome to just drop in occasionally, or to make it a regular practice. $10-20 suggested donation per class.
If you have a yoga mat and/or meditation cushion, please bring it, but extra mats and cushions are available.
Looking for a unique, intense workout? After the second Friday Vital Power class, stay for Catonsville Seido Karate's conditioning and self-defense class, open to all.
